Window (displays) into their soul!
Triitme!: Window displays are the first impression we have of a store. In fact, we’re exposed to hundreds – maybe even thousands – of them everyday so it’s become easier and easier to just hurry right by and ignore what we see in the window. People are increasingly getting caught up in the hustle-and-bustle meaning that the importance of a storefront with appealing decor is growing tenfold.

I find it very interesting that all of the window displays appeal to the eye through the use of sharp edges, symmetry, and distinct inorganic lines. Maybe because these grab the buyers attention more? I would like to know how effective the window display artwork is at getting customers through the door. One would think that a passerby would appreciate the display as art and move on instead of seeing the clothes or bags in the window as something they could be wearing. This may also only work in high fashion, because mostly well-known designers boast this style of art in their windows- making golden gilded walls and objects a seemingly reoccurring theme. The gold often makes everything seem higher quality, but also more expensive. While beautiful, I think the windows would turn me away from going into the store unless I knew that I could spend money willy-nilly. However, window displays are a fabulous way of showing art to the world to sell a product, and it isn’t something you see every day.
