3 Things That Surprised Me About the Broadway Investor Survey

The Producer's Perspective: Last Friday, I published the results of the first ever Broadway Investor survey. If you haven’t seen it yet, click here.
Honestly, I wasn’t all that shocked with the results. I could have bet the capitalization of Spider-Man that the majority of Broadway Investors would be iPhone users and come from the Northeast. Maybe that’s because I talked to a lot of people that invest in Broadway shows and/or are considering investing in Broadway shows. Or maybe it’s because I’m a Broadway investor myself.

I don't really know how broadway shows are invested in and where exactly the money comes from, so reading this article was really interesting. I had no idea how little people were paying (it's not that little, but it's a lot less than what I thought that it would be). I also found it really cool that most of the people investing in broadway are from the arts industry and that they don't really care if they don't make a profit. To them, supporting the arts is a good enough return for their investment. It was really interesting to read about money not being the most important thing to investors, which was something that I wouldn't have guessed.
