Is It Worth The Wait In Line?
ExhibiTricks: The Museum Exhibit Design Blog: Over this past year I've gone to several art exhibitions that, during the course of their runs, turned into high-profile "must see" events. Consequently, the exhibitions developed long waiting lines, which became stories themselves, which in turn generated even longer lines, and stories and social media moaning-and-groaning about the lines.

Mmmmm... No. Unless a four to six hour wait in line is an intentional preparation for seeing/experiencing an exhibition, say, similar to fasting before an Ayahuasca ceremony. I do not believe this is the case for Rain Room or Infinity Mirrored Room. Then again, I did not attempt to see either of these pieces, so who am I to say? Maybe one or the other or both were in fact life-altering experiences for certain individuals. All I can compare this concept to is looking back upon my own adventures. My most meaningful, amazing, mind-altering art and/or life experiences have occurred when I have stumbled onto something not yet over hyped. I believe constant exploration is key – not excessively waiting in line!!
