CMU students to debut web series

TribLIVE: Producing a television series is so “old media.” All the cool kids these days are producing web series, and putting them directly on the Internet. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but the lure of the web is pretty obvious. If you don't have the money or connections, why wait for the gatekeepers to let you in?

The internet is a big component in most people's everyday lives and I think it is great that Carnegie Mellon Drama students are taking advantage of this. Not only does Redwood Time open up opportunities for the students currently working on it but possibly as well as future students. This is definitely an example of the possibilities outside the school as well as inside.

I think this is a great idea, and that drama students should in fact embrace how easy it is to use modern technology to develop and share stories, whether in documentary or narrative form. Short films (and web series) are fun to work on, and there's never anything wrong with getting your name and work further out there.
