The Music.com.au: A fatal stage collapse in Italy has prompted calls from the Australian industry that ‘it could still happen here’.
A collapsed stage of Italian rock star Jovanotti has claimed the life of an apprentice stage hand in Italy. The collapse happened in Trieste, a sea-side town in the country’s north east, as the stage’s construction crew were nearing completion.
Entertainment technology trade magazine CX reported the story saying, “ Australia’s production industry are vulnerable and audience lives at risk due to lack of diligence, unrestricted import of poorly engineered staging, and crucially no peak industry representation.”
According to Pollstar, Italian news agency ANSA reported that rescue crews said the stage’s front buckled and collapsed, crushing workers with scaffolding.
