'As You Like It' and 'Into The Woods' Will Be This Summer's Central Park Productions
NYTimes.com: This summer will mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, and to mark the occasion, the Public Theater on Thursday announced a production meant to take full advantage of that setting: a revival of the 1987 Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical “Into the Woods” that is based on an acclaimed London staging performed outdoors in Regent’s Park there.

I am such a huge fan of theatre set in a non traditional theatre. I can not imagine Into the Woods actually taking place amidst the woods. Im a true believer that atmosphere and location changes everything. I can only imagine how inspired a scenic designer would be to create in such a space as this one. Shakespeare in the Park remains one of my biggest eventual goals because of amazing design opportunities like this.
