6 Tips to Avoid IRS Audits for Freelancers

The basics of accounting should be a required or recommended course for the theatre industry due to the fact of the amount of freelancing in the industry. These ideas are good basics but we should have a deeper understanding of the proper way of dealing with taxes and tax write offs. Also dealing with the difference in the tax codes and laws from the different states you work in.

I agree that an accounting course would be very useful for the theatre industry. I wish that I more fully understood the mysterious world of taxes. This is something that I will need to learn if I ever wanted to be a freelancer. Being able to handle money is such an important part of one’s life that it is important to know how to do it to the best of one’s ability.
