Los Angeles On-Location Film Permits Increase By 16% in 2010

Backstage: "The number on location film permits in Los Angeles County issued in 2010 for movies, TV and commercials production jumped an impressive 16 percent after declining by 23 percent in the previous year, according to a report by the L.A. County Economic Development Corp.
It's a sign that the recession is over and that an economic recovery is under way in Southern California, especially for the entertainment industry.

This is awfully interesting that the film industry is on its way back to supposedly recovering.  I hope that this is showing that the whole economy is recovering regarding the arts.  This all could just be a blip that happens and then this year it is just back where was last year or even worse. It does seem like the economy is on the upturn, knock on wood.  This makes me feel a bit better about entering the work force in the coming years.  For a while I did not know if anyone  graduating for Carnegie Mellon would get a job directly out of school that would be good and maximize our great education.  This is one of many things that has proven me wrong.
