It's not really my style but I was strangely excited when I first heard about this musical. I typically lean away from spectacle shows and prefer things that offer more intellectual stimulation, largely leaning away from musicals when I have a choice. But this show really catches my interest. The plot, though from what I've heard it's somewhat random, sounds interesting and offers some good opportunities to the creative team. And even though several of the songs in the show were not originally written for it, I'm still excited to hear the recording. I guess there's just something about it. I'm excited to see how well it's received in America.

I was actually hesitant to include this on my list of shows to see during spring break. But after thinking about it, the show probably is quite effective in a theater setting, and I can imagine how spectacular the production can be in a large theater (for a Broadway standard) such as the Palace. The cast is also exciting; I'm glad that Tony Sheldon got to transfer to the Broadway production. Will Swenson will probably be fantastic and provide tremendous energy to the production, and same can probably be said for Nick Adams who finally gets a sizable role on Broadway...

So there's a large amount of spectacle in this show. So what? It's needed every now and then. Amongst many shows nowadays trying to be serious and world-changing, it's great to see something that is just fun--something that tugs at good feelings. I love that. I hope this is well received on Broadway, and hope that it sticks around for a little while. Plus, it's produced by Bette Midler, so there has to be a camp factor, and I can't wait.

I can't wait to see this show on Broadway. I had the opportunity to see it when it opened in London on the West End a few years back, and I have to say that it is spectacular, and loads of fun. If you don't like musicals, don't see it, but if you don't mind them, then you are guaranteed to have a blast. It's a perfect combination of music, dance, and and over-the-top storyline paired with fabulous costumes. It's also technically interesting too, which is great for those of us who like to keep an eye on those things and speculate how certain effects were achieved.

I hope they do well in New York because it is truly such a great show.
