Materials, Structures, Standards

Cool Tools: "This book, also known as MSS, is an outstanding work of architecture reference. It is 264 pages of impeccably drafted architectural and design elements with a wonderfully accessible style. It is full of annotated scale drawings designed to convey as much information as possible using few words.

This seems like something every scenic designer and technical designer should have a copy of. Every time I see a handrail that's too low, or any other piece that is unintentionally not in proportion to the human body, I think "How could they possibly think this would work?" This should help people design and build ergonomically and sensibly. I'll take one.

I was actually about the buy this after reading the description but the index made me think twice. It seems to general. I think I would rather get the Illustrated guide to the international building code instead.

It does seem like a handy basic desktop reference but, like most reference books I purchase, I think i would need to flip through it before i would actually buy it.

Great to have laying around the office. This is a reference tool that is not always urgently necessary, but when it is, it could be a real time-saver. Every shop should have one of these in their library, just in cse that one day ever arrives where it could be a crucial tool.

This book should be a staple for every scenic designer in our industry. I personally could see myself referring to it for every project I would do. It would be a significant time saver, as instead of spending hours of research, I just open the cover of the book.
