DRUMLine Live is a fantastic show! I had an opportunity to work on the show as the tour performed at my school and was very impressed. The use of the instruments, voices, and projections (which walk you through history of music) all play a key role which allow for an excellent flow of the production. The fact that this performance is all about the music and takes individuals from Historically Black Colleges and University and turns their skills into a performance is a new and exciting experience. The soul of the musicians really captures the heart of the production and draws you in. Definitely a must see if you love music!

I am not at all surprised by the success of this show. I have always been enthralled by even the mediocre high school drumline, so I cannot even imagine how cool this must be. It is a style that is so rich in history and culture that its no wonder that it is so entertaining to watch. I also really like that they do all sorts of music from P Diddy to Count Basie. The fact that something as seemingly mundane as a marching band routine can be turned into such an artistic phenomenon is amazing, I hope that they continue to have gerat success and that I can see them sometime soon.

This show sounds like a great time. The music and performance were probably both really powerful. I was in marching band for a year in high school and i would say that was what turned me to theatre. The power of the music with the numbers and precision of a marching band is so powerful. We played Shaker Medley and I was right in front of the cymbals, at the climax we were in a 250 person triangle doing a high point march toward the audience with the cymbals on each step and playing a part of this powerful music, I realized the power in a live performance. It was what sparked the magic in me to seek out the theatre. I would love to see this show and see that same spark.

This is the kind of show I would like to see. Something that is a great time with fun music and dance that makes you want to get up and join in, but at the same time is a celebration of a rich history. I am glad that others feel the same and I hope that there will be more works like this in the future. It gives spectacle meaning. I often feel watching some newer shows they have become less of an art and more of a competition, between who can be bigger, or more impressive. This can be fun to watch sometimes, but I feel it loses the heart of theater and it’s good to know some people are managing to have both heart and spectacle.
