Off to See the Wizard
Theatre Ideas: "As Teresa Eyring notes in her TCG blog, there was a small group of arts 'service organization' leaders invited to DC to discuss the recent #supplydemand issue with NEA leader Rocco Landesman. I was one of those invited. I must admit, I felt honored to be invited to the table.

Things look pretty glum right now for arts funding: NEA focusing on a stricter model for endowments & Congress looking to cut non-profit funding. So far the solution has been write to your representative or let the managing directors figure out how to get struggling theaters out of the red. The author's praise of using the blogosphere to criticize the NEA has some promise that may lead to a solution. Instead of using the blogosphere to express anger and concern perhaps this can be translated into a discussion or a national think-tank for theater economics. The CMUBlogspot blog is an example of this: a fews ago there was an article posted about a theater company using a European model rather than a North American model. Using information like this in conjuncture with peoples opinions and feelings may help to brainstorm new approaches to keeping theaters afloat. #newfundingideas
