Inside Jeremy Piven’s Offstage Drama With ‘Speed-the-Plow’

NYTimes.com: "The main characters: A hot television star making his Broadway debut, only to fall ill. A respected director trying to create a Tony Award-worthy production, who put off his star’s complaints with the assurance that he was “killing it” on stage. A hard-driving producer looking to sell tickets and whose sarcastic e-mail messages testify to a relationship gone sour. And, in a supporting role, an arbitrator with the soul of a theater critic, whose 44-page ruling offers a rare look behind the curtain."

I had no idea that Jeremy Piven was considering crossing over to Broadway. I love Jeremy Piven and think he's really talented especially as the short tempered/hilarious Ari Gold which is why its unfortunate to hear that he ditched his broadway show because of "mercury poisoning" while still attending other social events, it also would have been great to see his talents in a different type of role than the one he plays on entourage

The only information I had heard before reading this article was about Mr. Piven's hospitalization from mercury poisoning I had no idea it had become such an "offstage drama". I never know who to believe in situations like this and ultimately I don't care. It's unfortunate that this situation was not handled as professionally as it should have been but many things in life don't happen the way we would like. It is also sad that the things that happened offstage actually eclipsed the show itself. I heard more about the mercury poisoning than about the show and performances themselves and that to me is the disappointing part of the whole incident.
