Pittsburgh Ballet's 'Sleeping Beauty' improves in successive performances over weekend

Post Gazette: "With the loss of four key dancers last year, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre found itself in a state of transition as it began its 40th anniversary season last weekend at the Benedum Center with that grande dame of all full-length ballets, 'Sleeping Beauty.'"

I'm happy to hear the this show is seasoning well. I was slightly disappointed with my viewing of the performance. I am not at all an experienced dancer, and even I noticed several fubs in the dancing by principle leads and especially some of the male dancers. Perhaps with some more shows under their belts and some more confidence this production holds a little more interest and character - it was a little soulless when i saw it. Too much glitz and glam and not enough heart.
