Flight Simulator For Peter Pan

LiveDesign: "When designer Bill Dudley and his wife, director Lucy Bailey, met with producers in 2007 about a revamp of Peter Panproposed for a tent in Kensington Gardens in London, Dudley saw an opportunity to bring the vision of projected scenery he had been perfecting for five years full circle, literally."

The sheer enormity of this project is really mind blowing. The resolution for such large images must be incredible! The idea behind this is as impressive as the technology however. Theater and film seem to be moving in a more immersive direction, from Imax's ability to make audiences feel movement and incredible surround sound, to the prevalence of theater in the round. Surrounding the audience with moving video projections is a step in the direction of increasingly close, if not realistic theater.

I came away from this article with two different responses. The first was that this seems to be an incredibly innovative way to bring something new to Peter Pan. On the other hand, this is a timeless show, and I wonder if it would be somewhat tainted if we tried to force the story of the boy that wouldn't grow up into a world of technology.
