I really like articles like this because it sort of gives me a broad sort of coverage of new designers and people that I need to be aware of and look out for. I actually haven't seen several of the films or productions that these ten designers have created, that were mentioned in the article. I also really appreciate articles like these that detail smaller festivals because I feel like I learn a lot more about new and upcoming artists that maybe aren't as popular in the really popular circles. The SCAD Savannah Film Festival seems like a really great local film festival to recognize local and upcoming artists, and I think that smaller festivals are a great way to community build but also a good way to bolster local artists within a local artistic community. Celebrating a twenty-five-year anniversary is really impressive and I can see why the festival has been able to come back year after year and be successful. I have some family in Savanah so if I'm ever there while the festival is happening I will try to get a ticket.

I have visited SCAD numerous times for college tours and family vacations. I was always struck by how rich the community in Savannah was and how deep its roots were in the film industry. Knowing that the SCAD Savannah Film Festival will be celebrating its 25th anniversary and partnering with Variety is very cool. I wish there was an opportunity for us to go to this film festival and watch the 10 different artisans work in their films or TV programs. Most of these 10 people I haven’t heard of before. But now that I know they have been selected for this festival I will learn more about them and their work and start by watching the show or film they were selected for. I wonder why after all these years, SCAD has decided to partner with Variety. I wonder if it’s because the film festival is not getting as much traction with the public as it used to, especially after the pandemic, or if they wanted to promote their 25th anniversary. I’m unsure what it could be, but I still think it will help this film festival become more well-known, well-attended, and exciting to hear about in the news.
