Despite being a state that consistently ranks lower for education, Kentucky has actually been pushing for a similar sort of program on the government level. Pushing for more trade education, and more CTE pathway programs. These don't even necessarily have to follow traditional technical education programs. Like at my school, we were able to develop our theater and film programs with these funds. Granting students a greater range of opportunities in our high school, and I think it really made a difference in how I considered a future career. As a whole, there has been a much bigger push for developing these sorts of programs around the nation recently, and I think it really goes to show, how big certain industries are growing now. I mean if Kentucky, and Carhartt the clothing brand are both pushing for skilled trade jobs. These are real industries now that you can make a serious pay in now, and it's becoming increasingly more apparent that these sorts of jobs, are much more enjoyable to the average person than traditional office jobs.

I'm not sure what it was like at every high school but at least at my high school it very much felt like the only real option was College. Like you didn't have to go to college but there was just this expectation that everyone would. I think that really emphasizing and giving kids access to training programs like this as an alternative for people is really good because like they say in the article we do need people working these jobs and we don't need everyone to go into Academia or higher education. And also we don't want people to leave high school without these skills to get a job that has a livable wage attached to it. and so it's a nice alternative to have job training instead of just having to go to college for a well-paying job. I think it's really cool that Carhartt is putting money into this because the people who are buying Carhartt for the most part are trades people and so I think it's really cool that Carhartt is reinvesting that money into those people.
