I always enjoy reading about new heads of these theater companies, it helps me stay aware of who's in charge of our industry these days andI think that's really important, and thinking about where I wanna work in the future and where I wanna be. I really liked what this person had to say about how he truly believed in the and what it can do beyond the walls of our industry, and how art inspires so many people and inspires change. I really enjoyed reading about his background and all these very successful shows that he worked on I think it's so cool to see and learn about the beginning of these shows and just how special they are before they get shot into the spotlight and the magic really is in creating something for the first time a raw story and I think that's so beautiful and hopeful.

Artistic Direction is a particularly interesting career path to me. The article discusses Darren Edward Johnston as the new Associate Artistic Director of Commercial Strategy and Partnership at Arena Theater in DC. What makes this, and other roles like it artistic? Is it because they report to the artistic director, but their role is more business oriented? Or is it a mix of both? He finds shows to sponsor and bring to the Artistic Director, an artistic process. Meanwhile he puzzles out how it would be produced if chosen, more money, business oriented. In an interview Johnston spoke of “commercially enhanced productions” what does this mean within the not-for-profit model? It also says he was a producer on what seemed like nearly all the shows last season. What does it take to be noted as a producer, when does it really matter and when is it superfluous. What does it take to be lead producer on a production?
