What the Reciprocal Tariffs Mean for Home Builders

While the overall projection of this article is positive given that tariffs for lumber in particular are being rolled back with the exemption of Canada and Mexico from the tariffs, I believe that the long term implications mentioned in the article will be much more interesting to track and see how lumber prices are expected to change as the volatile nature of these tariffs continues. More specifically, I wonder if sometime in the next three months we will see tariffs come back and then have to begin considering the effect on the supply chain and stocking of U.S. vendors as trade is once again disrupted. If this is the case, it will be interesting to see how high prices may spike under these conditions. Lastly, seeing this makes me wonder about if there are differential effects on particular species of lumber or different kinds of goods and what the particular factors that go into these processes that allow for tariffs to affect them differentially.
