www.hollywoodreporter.com: SAG-AFTRA has been on strike against major video game studios for more than seven months, and the two sides don’t seem to be particularly close to making a deal.

Previously, I had no idea that SAG-AFTRA was involved with performances given in video games. However, thinking back on it now, it makes perfect sense. Especially since as technology has evolved, it has become more and more common for actors in video games not only to give the characters their voices, but also their likeness and movements via motion capture. I thought there was an entirely different union for the world of video games. I also didn't know that there was a strike going on against major game companies. It's interesting to me that this strike hasn't gotten more attention, especially since I am someone who pays attention to a lot of news involving video games. I really appreciate the unions efforts to protect actors from being taken advantage of by game companies with the use of AI. Even if a performer consents for their voice or likeness to be used in an AI, they should be compensated for that use just like if they were doing it themselves.
