Kentucky lawmakers override governor’s veto on limiting workplace safety regs

Safety+Health: Kentucky legislators have responded quickly to Gov. Andy Beshear’s (D) veto of a bill that would have limited enforcement of any new or existing state workplace safety and health regulations that are more stringent than federal OSHA standards.

This article reminded me of how people who are legislators might not fully understand the importance of each role that people have in specific industries, even though they are passing or vetoing legislation. I am honestly disappointed that the safety of so many people in this country has been such an unimportant idea. The fact is that with each day and with each piece of legislation being brought to the governors, the concept of safety and promoting healthy work habits has decreased immensely. It’s honestly disappointing that I was brought up in a world where safety was the number one priority, but each day in my adulthood, it has decreased. The safety of people in our industry has not been a vital part of the jobs in so many different industries. It is also disheartening that people do not take the safety of work environments and conditions seriously.
