I do not know how I feel about this statement. I think that honestly Tammy Faye is just not someone/the history with her and her family is something that is very relevant to most audiences at home nowadays which is the main reason why it didn’t last very long. I think it came on the West End at a relatively good time since the Oscar nominated biopic about Tammy Faye had come out and Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield were both nominated for that season, with Jessica winning the oscar. But even then, I had not known about that movie nearly as much as I had the others in the season, and I don’t know if people were necessarily interested in watching a musical based on them. I think Elton John is very talented, but also with the last minute casting switches and some more lackluster reviews about the show, its transfer to broadway seemed doomed pretty early on.
