Sally Mann photos removed from Texas museum following complaints.

Artsy: Photographs by American photographer Sally Mann were removed from a group exhibition at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas, according to the Dallas Express. On January 6th, the Texan newspaper reported that the works in question have been “secured as potential evidence” for a pending investigation. The newspaper had previously reported on complaints by public officials regarding the content of the photographs, which the publication described as “child pornography.”

This is definitely a difficult subject to debate. In art, most people like to consider that a nude of someone is not inherently sexual. And with that, these images of children definitely shouldn't be considered that way either. If they take these images down for that reason, you are simply encouraging the idea that they should be viewed in a sexual context. But they are also just trying to protect these kids. No matter what, there are always going to be creeps and giving them access to these pictures of children isn't a great idea. But the argument can also be made that those people would be getting access to such pictures anyway, and the people coming to see the pictures that were removed from the museum are people who genuinely enjoy art. It's a difficult subject to approach, and I don't see a right answer here.
