I remember first hearing about the backlash to Blake Lively’s promotional content for It Ends With Us a few months ago. When the New York Times reported on the initial complaint her legal team filed, I read the entire complaint within two hours. As a woman entering the industry, I usually pay attention to these sorts of things. What felt especially sinister about this particular situation was that Lively, a rather successful, popular, and powerful woman married to a popular and powerful actor was the one brazenly harassed and assaulted. In addition, she also was speaking up for the other women who also felt harassed on the film set, including other actresses and members of the crew. It begs the question, how many women lesser known and with less resources for legal action have been victims of Baldoni? I am constantly aware that I may find myself in similar situations in the future. I keep myself well informed about past and current situations so that I know how to deal with them when they happen to me.
