How the Oscars designed its post-slap stage

www.fastcompany.com: The stage can’t be completely to blame for what happened at last year’s Academy Awards ceremony, but it was arguably an accomplice. When Will Smith walked up onto the Oscars stage and slapped Chris Rock, he didn’t have far to go.

I think that it is really interesting to read this article because I do think learning about the reasoning behind the design is cool but I do not think that the article actually addresses what is in the title. They talked about how they did not want to make this year about last year's events but they did not really address how the design itself was preventing it from happening again. It seems like they were just hoping that the massive amounts of LED screens would distract everyone, attendees and audiences alike. But I do not think that that alone would stop anything like what happened last year from happening again. It is very very interesting to read about the thought processes that went into the design of the stage for the Oscars this year. I always look forward to seeing what variations designers come up with when designing for these award shows each year.
