I wish I could’ve seen this show. As a long-time RENT fan, I love Anthony Rapp and was inclined to learn more about this production. I’m so curious about what it is - I hope that it stays long enough that I can catch it. I didn’t know that he wrote a memoir! I really should give that a read - I’m fascinated by the original RENT and what that process with Jon must’ve been like, and the success that followed. I have the biggest affinity for the specific genre of MT rock. And now, a tangent about Tom Kitt, since he did additional arrangements for this show. Tom Kitt is a GENIUS. I just saw the Jagged Little Pill tour a few days ago, and it just was a screaming reminder about how good he is. You’re pounded in the face with the most unbelievably beautiful harmonies and renditions of Morisette’s album. I am also a long-time Green Day fan, and Tom Kitt does the impossible in the Broadway version of American Idiot - he makes rock music sound good in a musical theatre setting. Dare I say, some of the songs are better than the original. (“Letterbomb” for sure.)
