Impact Driver vs Drill: What's the Difference?

Pro Tool Reviews: It used to be so easy—drills took care of holes and that was that. Now that we have impact drivers, however, it gives us more options than we often know what to do with. many people have asked us recently about an impact driver vs drill and what’s the difference?

I found this article very useful. I’ve always had trouble with impact drivers and have always preferred drills. This is perhaps because I don’t know how to properly use an impact driver but I have always found that drills drive screws in faster. I have noticed that people find it easier to remove difficult screws with an impact driver. After reading this article I better understand the intentions behind each tool. I also have come to understand that impact drivers provide more torque which would explain why they are easier to remove screws with. I think I perhaps have more experience with drills which is why I feel more comfortable with them. I find I feel like I have less control with an impact driver, likely because of the greater amount of torque, and my lack of experience with them. I also found it interesting that you can drill deeper with them as I have definitely run into the experience where I cannot drill deep enough with a drill. I had also never heard of a hammer drill although it makes sense we would likely not use them, or use them infrequently in our industry as they seem more likely to split wood, as they are intended more often for concrete.
