Pittsburgh Opera Launches New Season with Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”

onStage Pittsburgh: For the first time in nearly two years, Pittsburgh Opera returns to the Benedum Center this Saturday evening, November 6, for the first of four performances of Mozart’s phantasmagorical The Magic Flute. The company did a marvelous job with the smaller scaled productions it managed to give last season, but it will be a genuine treat to return to the grandeur of the Benedum.

It is truly great to see other local theatre's being able to come back from the pandemic and do what they were born to do. I specifically enjoy that Pittsburgh Opera is coming back with The Magic Flute because it was the first opera that I have ever seen. My undergrad college performed it when I was a freshman so this opera is something dear to my heart. I have seen many articles recently about other theatre's that are coming back and now that we are starting to see an uptick in Pittsburgh productions, I am truly happy for our industry as well as hopeful for the students who will be graduating soon and some who hope to stay in the Pittsburgh area now have a true chance at being able to see that happen for them. I hope to be able to see more local productions as well as I feel that is something that I've been lacking having started my graduate school adventure in Pittsburgh during the height of the Pandemic.
