The costume design of Marvel’s ‘Eternals’
The Connector: Marvel’s newest and oldest superheroes were introduced on November 4th. The film boasts very impressive visuals, along with a star-studded cast. The movie was different from any other Marvel movie and so was the costuming. As a fashion student, I always look forward to seeing how the costume design informs the storytelling.

I imagine that the Marvel Universe is a bit scary to costume design for due to a multitude of reasons. The first is that there are decades of image inspirations that fans tend to be really picky and particular about, and the second is that the Marvel Universe is so big that at some point in time the costumes you designed for certain characters may end up in a different designer’s hands when that character enters a different Marvel movie. Something I am curious about when it comes to Marvel costumes is that I wonder if the costume designer gets any profit from Halloween costumes that come out for the characters they designed costumes for? My gut instincts tell me they are not, but since Marvel belongs to the cooperation that is Disney I imagine they could spare a small portion of the millions they make in Halloween costumes to give to the people that designed the costumes.
