We see a lot of these fantastic revolutionary ideas are being produced, and I am all for it, new ways to push what has traditional been the way of doing things is always wonderful to see but like in this case where they are described as like industry breaking or something similar it reminds me that those advances don’t usually trickle down for a long time, for those very monetarily productive and big theatres that can use them they can do some wild stuff with them, but for those smaller companies and in my mind schools because that's where I’ve done all my theatre getting lights is an investment that’s supposed to last decades, they can’t be replaced easily or without significant chunk of the investment. Yes, these are incredibly cool and sophisticated, just the same level of unattainability, so terms of “industry revolutionizing” seem weird to me because of that when it can be hard for the whole industry to access and use them.

Ayrton has come out with some really incredible products for all different purposes in the lighting world. I particularly enjoy the Magic Blade fixtures and the iterations of it that they have come up with. I most recently saw them being used at the CMU fall concert in the Wiegand gym and they are extremely versatile fixtures that can do a lot of really fun effects. AB Tech wasn’t really using them to their fullest potential, but they were doing some cool effects with them. I love how a lot of Ayrton’s fixtures have amazing pixel mapping capabilities that can allow for some great effects with color and intensity. I am watching some of the teaser videos for their products now and there are some that I didn’t even know about that I would love to explore even further. I love trying out new equipment and seeing what is available to be used! There are a lot of really unique fixtures out there now.
