We asked House of Gucci's costume designer to pick the best suits in the film. She obliged

British GQ: Stellar cast and sumptuous Italian vistas aside, the real standout stars of Ridley Scott's new high fashion epic, House of Gucci, are - somewhat unsurprisingly - the clothes. From Lady Gaga's multiple turns in cleavage-bearing Saint Laurent skirt suits to Jared Leto's elephant cord Norfolk two pieces in candied shades of magenta and cobalt, the woman behind the magic is celebrated costume designer Janty Yates, of Gladiator, American Gangster, and The Martian fame.

First off, the header in the news comment seemed kinda off putting so I wanted to read this article (I think the “She obliged” has a very negative context) and yet that word never appeared in the article, so that’s interesting. Something that made me laugh was the first paragraph about the types of suits that were worn (“elephant cord Norfolk two piece”) like the average reader would know what that means. It was fun to read how they found some of the pieces and the inspiration behind the various suits and outfits. I bet it was really interesting to see an outfit you created for a movie scene to be worn as a Halloween costume! I will say though that oftentimes in the article is mentioned accessories or pieces that weren’t in the image so without seeing the movie, I had no clue what they were talking about. I know the movie has just come out, but it would have been nice to have full body images of the outfits being talked about.
