Carrie Underwood prepares to open the Las Vegas Strip’s newest theater during NFR
Las Vegas Weekly: The holidays are great, but it’s actually country music season on the Las Vegas Strip. After relocating to Arlington, Texas, to maintain during last year’s pandemic spike, the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo comes home to Las Vegas starting on December 2, and it’s bringing all the concerts and parties that come along with it.

I wonder if having so many country stars in Las Vegas actually means something about the demographic of people going to Las Vegas or this article is just leaving out other stars that are performing there right now. It must have been somewhat nice for venues in Las Vegas to get all these big stars, like Celine Dion, in the in-between time of it being safer for people to go out but not kosher enough for a tour. I’m sure it was also good for the artists, as well, that did get to continue performing, while they couldn’t go out on tour. I am glad that World Theatre was able to get Carrie Underwood in after Dion couldn’t do it. I love Carrie Underwood. I don’t listen to her as much now, but I used to when I was younger. She may sing country but she really is talented and seems like a good person. I look forward to hearing about all of the shows and tours that will be starting back up soon.
I can safely say that from the early stages of COVID up until this very moment, the thought of rodeos opening up again simply had not even crossed my mind. I imagine the people in the rodeo community waiting for rodeos to come back is a lot like how people in the theater community were waiting for Broadway to come back. I also wasn’t aware that a rodeo had so many concerts and other events associated with it, or that Las Vegas was a hub for rodeo stars and fans a like to gather and do what they do best. The second part of the article talks about Carrie Underwood taking on a residency in Las Vegas. From what I gather, residences in Las Vegas are a relatively newer creation so it is exciting to see that wide variety of artists that are now taking part of the trend. Carrie will be in good company!
