Makita Cordless Sub-Compact Oscillating Multi-Tool Review
PTR: We’ve been anticipating an updated cordless multi-tool from Makita for quite a while now. Their XMT03 has done fine work for us, but it’s fallen behind the performance of more recent competition. We were excited when the Makita cordless Sub-Compact oscillating multi-tool arrived on our doorstep. However, what we saw when we opened the box wasn’t exactly what we were expecting.

I will never forget the opinion I used to hold when it came to Makita tools. I had always thought of them as the budget alternative and you get what you pay for in the tool industry. However, Makita has time and time again come out on top whenever they release a new tool. This cordless oscillating saw really seems to be cream of the crop, especially when it comes to its vibration reduction. Vibrations really are the silent killer in the tool industry and can lead to lasting effects on the user. According to Pro Tools, this new Makita has beat the game in vibration control. Additionally, I really love it when a random oscillating tool has a soft start. This means that whenever you turn the tool on, it takes a second to ramp up to full speed, I have always preferred this because it allows you to take a second and give the final thought to the job you are about to do instead of just jumping right into it.
