Gods of Mars Is the First Film to Produce Fully in Unreal
io9.gizmodo.com: Helmed by Peter Hyoguchi, Gods of Mars is an in-production science fiction film that’s breaking new ground. While companies like Disney have used Epic’s Unreal Engine to aid in production, Hyoguchi’s film is going a step further and just filming the whole damn thing in Unreal.

Before reading this article, I did not understand what Unreal was. After reading this article, I am still confused, but I now have a clue about what exactly Unreal is, and how useful it has proven to the film and television industry.
The Mandalorian was highly praised for its graphics, and I got to know that that was possible because the production team was using Unreal. Unreal helped the team to achieve intricate, unimaginable settings and then all that had to be done was to put the actors in these spaces, which created for such a beautiful view.
But the fact that not all of The Mandalorian used Unreal yet it had such an impact leaves me only to imagine how Gods of Mars, which is made completely in Unreal will fare. If Unreal has worked the way it did in the show, there is no doubt the Gods of Mars will create a new benchmark in the visuals it creates.
Now I know very little about Unreal, however, I’ve played multiple video games that have been created with an unreal engine, which is freaking awesome. However, producing a film in a video game engine seems a little bizarre… and yet more feasible then dealing with covid-19 safety requirements. Plus because the film is science fiction, and the unreal engine is super malleable, this ends up making a lot of sense. Plus, when considering the cost of people versus the cost of using a video game engine, I’m sure those cost benefit analysis are stark. I would also like to point out that this article has very little substance and repeats the same five or so sentences in like five different ways. That’s a little frustrating. But, the video footage that is accompanied by the poor text shows that the use of Unreal as a future tool for filmmakers is a reality and not just a possibility.
