Hindsight is 2020: The 10 Things We Learned from the 2010s

www.broadwayworld.com: Now that the ball has dropped, the confetti has been cannoned, "Auld Lang Syne" has been sung (although no one actually knows the words), and the calendar has flipped, we thought that this would be an appropriate time to look back at the recently elapsed decade with a bit of hindsight to see what we - as a theatre community - can learn and take into 2020.

First off, I love the title of this article. On another note 10 years is a long time for someone only alive for 19 so far so it was nice to see how those years were summarized in a neat listicle. The most stunning thing on the list? Lin-Manuel Miranda’s impressive list of moves. I thought for a list that was upon first look so comprehensive looked at quite a few small details of the past 10 years of broadway. It felt like the list couldn’t decide if it was a summery looking back on the past 10 years or if it was a list of specific incidents in which hindsight would be useful. For instance, the future is female seemed to be more of a summary of the shows by women, but “When producing a Broadway show, make sure that all of your investors actually exist” seems like a recounting of a specific incident in which hindsight is needed.
