As a San Diegan, I felt compelled to respond to an article that had San Diego in the title. I remember when the Aquatica park used to be a Knott’s Soak City before they underwent the change to being opened by SeaWorld. I found the quote from the Chief Operating Officer, Steve Youngwood, to be particularly interesting. He spoke about being able to connect with even more families, which is quite the statement considering this park may be one of the only ways that families may get to engage with Sesame Street, now that HBO has placed new episodes of the show behind a paywall. Not even regular HBO is the home of the children’s educational program, it is now an exclusive offering on their new HBO streaming service, HBO Max. This requires an additional payment. It is incredibly disappointing that families no longer get to engage with this important show on PBS, a free service.
