This is a very interesting video. Ross Jackson tells us about what he really does. To begin, he has a lot to do with making sure that they are following union rules. But the big part of his job is making sure that the show runs smoothly every night, and no matter when you see the show, it is identical to every other performance of the show. Jackson often walks around the stage and makes sure everything is good before the cast shows up. He says the most important qualities of a stage manager is being flexible, having compassion, and being detail-oriented. All of these I think is also very important. Jackson learned from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and then went to the University of California, and since then has been in fieldwork. His career took off as a stage management intern for wicked. I think that this was a very beneficial overview video that was also inspiring.
