The Three Rivers Regatta is canceled and the event group is under fire

www.nextpittsburgh.com: For the first time in 41 years, Pittsburgh’s summer will pass without a regatta.

In a reversal that stunned many observers, the board of directors of the Three Rivers Regatta announced today that the annual festival, scheduled to begin in just three days, has been canceled.

This is a very interesting article. It highlights a lot of points that show how communication is key. This festival has been going on for a very long time. Having it end abruptly is sure to upset many people. While I personally have never gone, I know a lot of people who have, and they tend to like it. It seems that the reasoning for the sudden cancelation is due to the lack of communication, and the sponsor and host of the event are unable to provide proper equipment and insurance. This is a big issue, becuase without liability insurance, things are very dangerous, and if something goes wrong, people could get sued. This goes to show how communication is crucially important and should have been better in order to have the event not be canceled.
