Review Roundup: The Critics Are Welcomed to the Rock at COME FROM AWAY in Melbourne

www.broadwayworld.com: The ground-breaking new musical is based on the incredible real-life events in the wake of the September 11 tragedy when 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 people from over 100 countries were redirected to Gander, Newfoundland, almost doubling the population of the remote Canadian town.

I got the privilege of seeing Come From Away’s original cast in New York City my junior year of high school. A lot of us went into it not sure how we would like the production, as the plot didn't seem super interesting. the minute the show started although we realize we are completely wrong. Every single one of us adore the show, especially the music and performers. We all laughed, and we all cried, and walked away from it completely shocked and in awe of what we just saw. It is actually an incredibly moving show covering all sorts of topics within the struggles of the people of Gander and the come from aways. The set is incredibly minimalist and therefore the actors are allowed to manipulate it in order to let 12 people portray thousands. My favorite part was the pit band, and the musical composition. After I watched the show I learned when Come From Away was debuted on Broadway, they actually went to Gander and performed for the town, which must have been so incredible.
