As theatre artists we are always trying to do something new and different that takes substantial risks. This new Bruce Norris show takes a huge risk centering his show around pedophiles when all this political climate wants to do is get them out off society. I think its an important question to answer: what should happen when a child sex offender is released from jail. I’m not sure how I feel about this show. I certainly don't believe any sympathy should be given to the characters. The more we sympathize with sex offenders the more “victim blaming” actions we will take, which could have horrific effects. Then again it's a question that will inevitably need an answer. Bruce Norris is not new to tackling complex issues, he artfully tackles gentrification and modern day racism in his 2011 Pulitzer prize winner Clybourne Park. So he seems like a qualified person to tackle the question, but I would like to see what he is saying about the characters before I give a final judgement.
