Aligning Values with Actions

HowlRound Theatre Commons: I have to tell you it’s very surreal to have a conversation with you about leadership transition because our executive director, Cynthia Rider, just announced to our company that she’s leaving. So Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is in dual leadership transition. The topic could not be more raw or relevant to my life.

"Aligning values with actions" seems a very phrase for anyone to associate with it. But if thought of, it is essentially a very simple thing; whatever one does should be in consistency with what they believe. Now that can range from respecting people because they are either elder to someone or have the experience that validates the respect.
However people often do the mistake where they try to segregate their actions from their values since they believe that their values do not need to be consistent with their actions since actions need to be performed with an objective point of view and not a subjective point of view. But this attitude leads to the person performing an act that he might not feel the best doing or feel a part of.
This is the reason people should align values with their actions so that they are able to fully invest their hearts and minds in the work that they are doing.
