Pittsburgh Current: A theater critic has been murdered! And it’s going to take all of Sherlock Holmes’ super sleuthing skills to locate someone who feels bad about it.
Just kidding! Holmes takes up the case and must traffic in the most evil, degraded and degrading world he’s ever visited— Victorian London’s theater district.

Ooof this is quite a harsh critique of “Sherlock Holmes and the West End Horror”. I actually appreciate a brutally honest review instead of a review that is fake and sugary. I still feel a little bad because I know that all shows, no matter the quality, require a ton of work. It stinks that so much hard work can be overshadowed by a few poor choices in wigs and poor writing. I think that this proves that the writing and acting are the main selling points in theater for audiences. As a tech-loving kid, the first thing I notice in a show is the set and lighting. Of course, I love the acting and story of theater, but I’m even more intrigued by the technical aspects of theater. Perhaps this version of “Sherlock Holmes and the West End Horror” just needs more development and time. Hopefully it will come back one day in the future as a new piece of theater with new writing, new actors, and new wigs.
This critic really did not like the show and he does point out some major flaws of the piece starting with the script itself. I really liked that it was brutally honeat because a lot of the times people will gloss over parts they didn't like to not hurt people's feelings as much. At least I know that I do that a lot. I think that this show tried to hard to be something good and didn't take into account how busy the show was and how sometimes not having space between lines is the correct thing. Dramatic pauses are great when they are used at the correct time but when used often become boring and no longer have the effect that the director wanted. I think that this show should reevaluate the pace of the show and maybe cut things down. As for the wings, there is not a lot to do now that they are up.
