Congrats to our Lighting Grad students Shawn Nielson and John Mitchell and of course C. Todd Brown who won this contest! I had no idea that the prize was a brand-new console for the school! That is quite the prize and well worth the work. I think that this competition is a great opportunity to not only show off and develop technical prowess with the latest and greatest technology but is also a great opportunity for artistic expression and for quick wit and decision making. All teams programmed to Bohemian Rhapsody and each had very different looks and interpretations for their parts. Not only does this sound like something that is fun to watch go down, but also a fun way for these lighting technology companies to advertise their equipment and the latest developments that they are making in the lighting field. I know that there are other versions of this event that exist as well and that CMU tends to do fairly well which is pretty cool.
