THE CHER SHOW Cancels Final Performance in Chicago Due to Technical Error

www.broadwayworld.com: The Cher Show cancelled its final performance in Chicago, which was set for today, July 15, due to a technical issue. The issue was announced to the audience shortly after the show was set to begin. A mini concert was performed in lieu of the full production, including 4 songs.

I think Chicago theaters are cursed, or at least the ghosts of the past have come back to haunt the theatre they died in. Considering the number of deaths at the Oriental Theatre it must be a sign. On a more realistic note this is not the first time a show has been cancelled during its premier in Chicago. Mary Poppins blew out the electricity in the Cadillac Palace Theater in its opening month in Chicago. This goes to show as much as we like to mutter it with sarcasm and glee there comes a time when the show just cannot go on. Safety is the number one most important thing about theatre. That is important because like I inferred in the beginning theatre was and still can be a very very dangerous place to work. So I admire the decision of the production staff to shut down the show and not endanger all the actors, especially Stephanie J Block. Whatever technical issues they had I hope they figure it out before NYC.
