Heathers the Musical

Pittsburgh in the Round: The Summer Company production of Heathers: The Musical opened to a sold-out audience at Duquesne University’s Genesius Theatre on June 26th. From the moment the Big Fun Band begins their jam to the final bows, it is evident the cast, made up of artists from varying backgrounds, is passionate about performing.

Prior to reading this article, I have already seen the movie and the show multiple times, so many people who know me would know that I love this show. I guess something that makes me love this musical so much would be the crazy designs you can do and the different ways the director can make you feel with the different characters. I have seen this show numerous times with multiple designs and in any way, you can do this show with a very simple flexible set or you can do various different flats that come in and out of the stage. However, something that I do love about this show along with the scenery is the different lighting effects you can do with this show and how they can affect the moment drastically. Overall I'm very excited that more theatres are doing this show and can't wait to see how the Pittsburgh in the Round adapts this iconic musical.
