Don’t let Scarlett Johansson dropping out kill Hollywood’s first trans studio film
Opinion | Salon.com: Transgender representation in Hollywood scored a huge victory last week when Scarlett Johansson stepped down from “Rub & Tug,” in which she was set to play a trans man — but it would be just as bad if the project disappeared entirely.

I feel like overall this piece really revealed the true issue with addressing problems in contemporary society. Scarlett Johansson was ridiculed for taking a trans role that would have been ideal for trans actors to truly get to express themselves in their roles. However, after her callous response to these complaints including telling these complainers to address their complaints to other actors who had won their acclaim from playing trans roles. Scarlett decided that she would step down from the project, but as she was one of the main people funding the project it is unclear as to whether or not the movie will continue to be funded. The issue with this is because the movie may get swept under the rug due to controversy, it shows that contemporary society has no issue with sweeping its bigger problems under the rug which means nothing will ever be accomplished.
