Crain's New York Business: The Public Theater and Pregones Theater/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater will each receive a $500,000 grant for projects to broaden their reach from a nonprofit dedicated to expanding audiences and fostering new work.
Last summer, The Theater Subdistrict Council, the nonprofit which also promotes Broadway, announced it wanted to award $1 million to an organization with a game-changing innovation for the theater business. Instead, it opted to make two grants of $500,000 each.
