Pro Sound Web: These gold nuggets of mixing/audio production wisdom are insights into doing something small to make a huge impact. My notebook is filled with audio mixing tips and tricks from the Gurus of Tech 2013 conference earlier this year.
That tells you two things; the conference was great, and I still go old school with a paper notebook. If I wasn’t writing down something I thought was useful, I was writing down something I thought you’d find useful.

Though this article is marketed for the church sound engineer I think that most of these mixing tips can be related to all areas of mixing. This is largely due to the fact that to an extent it is all the same. Back at home after I started doing sound in high school and professionally I began to do sound at my church and almost all of the skills that I learned in my privies sound experience carried directly over to my church mixing. Some things that this article addresses that I wish that I could've implemented are the use of a ducker for background music which would've made running around the church much easier. The only issue I have with that is the potential for error. In my mind I would feel much more comfortable bringing levels down on my own rather than relying on the console to do it for me.
