He's Having a Baby: 'Birthday' in London -
NYTimes.com: Heard the one about the pregnant man? Yes, you probably have. But what if the joke turns out to be that he’s basically the same as a pregnant woman? Oh, you’ve heard that one, too?
I completely agree with the author in that the reproduction of film on to a stage is absurd. There is no reason to imitate something that has already been done, and the regurgitation of material, mostly by commercial theater, highlights the shallow quest for a quick buck, the depreciation of the art of theater, and the utter ignorance of audiences worldwide. "Birthday" will test the creative and production teams ability to create a distinction between a previously produced concept/idea, and a newly reinvented twist that can captivate audiences while using a recycled concept. "Birthday" is a show with a very intriguingly ridiculous plot, a show that even after just having read this article I am burning to see. "Birthday" presents an age old argument/issue that anyone with children, or anyone with parents for that matter, will be able to relate with and thoroughly enjoy.
