WGA Members Approve 'Pattern of Demands'
Backstage: "In a joint statement, WGA West president John Wells and WGA East president Michael Winship said, 'This overwhelming support from our joint membership is a powerful mandate for our negotiating committee as it moves forward toward the next MBA [Minimum Basic Agreement].'

97% approval makes me wonder how effective this vote is. It's interesting to note that the DGA/SAG/AFTRA don't issue a similar public document probably because their membership is just too large. It's an interesting strategy to go into a negotiation with an open hand like this because AMPTP can plainly see not only what they want to discuss but can probably estimate the priority of the WGA ahead of time. I would love to get more expanded information as to how this has helped them in the past. Perhaps if John Wells would drop by we could chat about it..
